Dr. Emily Han Wang is a Registered Acupuncturist and Functional Medicine Practitioner licensed in both Texas and California, and board-certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology by the NCCAOM. She is the founder of Iris Wellness in the Houston area and the first Bio-Well Health and Wellness Certified Practitioner in Houston.

But Dr. Wang did not choose medicine as a career.
Medicine chose her.In third grade, Dr. Wang suffered a sudden attack of cardiomyopathy. For years, she was unable to participate in sports or normal childhood activities. She still remembers sitting alone during gym class while the rest of her classmates played. Three years later, a pediatric cardiologist told her mother that she would never have a normal heart rhythm and would likely never have children. She remembers the moment her mother cried in front of her.Today, Dr. Wang exercises six days a week and is the mother of a healthy daughter.

That experience planted a lifelong question:
What if there are ways the body can heal that we are not taught to look for? As a teenager, she volunteered at the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences Acupuncture Institute in Beijing, one of the most respected national research institutions for Traditional Chinese Medicine. There, she observed renowned physicians using acupuncture and herbal medicine to reverse conditions she had been told were permanent.

When Dr. Wang was 20, her father suffered a heart attack. He was told he needed an immediate stent or the next episode would be worse. Instead, Dr. Wang sought out one of the best Traditional Chinese Medicine doctors in Beijing. After four months of treatment, his symptoms resolved and imaging showed blood vessels restored to 60% normal flow. These experiences shaped Dr. Wang’s life mission:
To help people avoid unnecessary suffering and restore health at the root cause.

With a persistent passion for the art of healing, Dr. Wang has practiced with and learned from several top specialists and experts in the TCM field in China, California, and Texas. Dr. Wang makes an intentional effort to treat the whole person creating personalized plans for each patient.

A Personal Message from Dr. Wang
If you have ever been told you will never recover, think again.I was told I would never have a normal life or have a child.
My father was told he needed immediate surgery.
Both stories ended differently. Your body has an incredible capacity to heal when given the right support at the right time.
May we all live as our healthiest selves.
